The Edmonton Pop-Up Cat Cafe is organized to help local animals in need and the rescue societies committed to them. The goal is to raise money and awareness for the animal welfare organizations, plus help people to meet and love on adoptable critters. All the while supporting local business.
Based on Cat Cafes which began in Asia, the Edmonton Pop-Up Cat Cafe allows patrons to book one hour to spend with friends and adoptable cats over coffee. Visitors enjoy the cafe atmosphere with cats who have the run of the place.
A couple of friends, Aaron Getz and Sarah Hoyles, are behind this Pop-Up concept.
Aaron is a local event promoter. He’s been at it for 20 years.
Sarah is a communications consultant and journalist who hosts and produces a podcast about pet culture called Pet Sounds.
They both love animals.
Sarah has rescue dog, Emmah and two rescue cats, Millie and Theo.
They also love a good cuppa coffee (Aaron and Sarah — not the animals).
